Kal is a genetically-engineered hybrid of the same species as Sil, except for being a male version born to a human woman.
Biography[]
Kal was created by Duburke Chemicals, who had also gotten their hands on the message SETI received in 1992.
Born in November of 1996 to a comatose human woman. He grew to full term in matter of days. The birth was traumatic and killed the mother. Kal developed in the same way as Sil had. At 30 days old, Kal looked like a ten-year-old.
But once he saw a woman for the first time, the only woman assigned to the project, the hybrid became dangerous and got loose from confinement. He eventually reached full maturity via the cocoon stage and tried to mate and produce offspring. His first attempt was the most successful, a stripper got pregnant and gave birth, but the child died shortly in an accident. After rejecting a woman he picked up in a bar, Kal offered a ride to a hitchhiking 15-year-old girl, Tina Hart. His attempt to rape her was interrupted by Erland Naylor, who shot Kal several times. Kal escaped by jumping off of a cliff into a river below. Some time later, Kal saved a pregnant Glenda Ross from being killed, but only to mate with her out of desperation. Not happy with the results, Kal killed the woman and left her body under a street sign.
Kal was at the end of his life, as his body was in a state of physical and cellular degeneration. He tried to mate with several women, but his body was too weak, and he lost body parts in the failed attempts. Finally, he took shelter inside of an overweight woman, and when Jean Louis Diana was beginning an autopsy on the woman, Kal burst out of the body, but decayed too fast and melted into pulp before he could attack her.

- Considering the events of Human Race are set before Species II and not counting the male hybrid from Sil's dreams, Kal is the first living male adult hybrid to be seen in the Species franchise, and the first male hybrid protagonist.
- His cocoon stage is never depicted, but Kal presumably evolved into adulthood in this way, like Sil.
- Kal's facial design is closer to a human skull. The original Xenomorph head design created by H. R. Giger similarly resembled a human skull under a membrane, which gradually faded in the Alien franchise.
- Kal's method of attack is different from Sil's - while she lured human males in her human form, Kal attacks and rapes women in his alien form.
- Kal shares his name with another fictional extraterrestrial, Superman, whose birth name is Kal-El and has been identified as Kal in reference to his Kryptonian nature.
